Getting to know UC Merced

The first new American research university built in the 21st Century, and the 10th of the prestigious University of California system, UC Merced is a university unlike any other.

The Basics: UC Merced opened in Sept. 5, 2005 and has since grown to a campus of about 3,000 students.  UC Merced is a national leader in enviornmentally responsible design earning four LEED Gold Certifications for its state-of-the-art buildings.  There are three academic schools; School of Engineering, School of Natural Sciences, and the School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Arts.  There are over 75 clubs and organizations for students to become involved in; from community service to dance, students at UC Merced are involved!
